Dakshana Scholarship: An Initiative of Dakshana Foundation
Dakshana is a philanthropic (welfare of others) foundation that is working on
reducing poverty. Dakshana Foundation is founded by Mohnish Pabrai in 2006.
Currently, Mohnish Pabrai is the Founder and Chairman of the Dakshana
Foundation.
As we have heard Education is the most powerful and durable weapon to win the
battle against poverty. To reduce poverty and empower the students who are
poor economically and socially across the world, Dakshana is providing
world-class educational opportunities to them. In world-class education,
Dakshana Foundation is providing the Dakshana Scholarship for free 1-2 years
of residential coaching for the Entrance examination of IIT and Medical
Colleges. Dakshana Scholarship is given to impoverished students predominantly
in rural India.

The headquarters of the Dakshana Foundation is in Pune, Maharashtra, India. In
Pune Dakshana's 1-year residential program is running.
How to become a Dakshana scholar?
Every year Dakshana conducts an exam to select talented students from Jawahar
Navodaya Vidyalaya and government schools across India. The exams are 3 types
of exams for different - different Applicants. They select the students from
class 10th to offer the Dakshana Scholarship based on academic records of
class 10th and results from NDST (Navodaya Dakshana Selection test) from JNVs
across India. Whereas They select the students from class 12th of JNVS across
India to offer the Dakshana Scholarship based on academic records of class
12th and results from JDST (Joint Dakshana Selection Test). They also select
from students of non-Jnvs but government schools by releasing other
notifications to conduct JDST (Joint Dakshana Selection Test). In this case,
Dakshana also follows the same procedure as students of class 12th of JNVs.

Facilities of the Dakshana Scholarship
- If you qualify for NDST then you will get free 2 years of JEE / NEET Coaching.
- If you qualify for JDST then you will get free 1-year JEE / NEET Coaching at the Dakshana Valley Campus, close to Pune, Maharashtra.
- In 2 years of coaching programs, you will be given to complete your class 11th and class 12th simultaneously in the allotted Dakshana center in respective JNVs.
- In Both types of Dakshana Coaching programs free food, free Hostel, and free books are provided.
- Most of the faculties of Dakshana are IITians.
- You will get the opportunity to study from Faculties who are well experienced from India's well-known Jee/Neet Coaching centers like Gravity, Resonance, Fiitjee, and Times.
- Dakshana provides a good environment to study better for IIT and Medical colleges.

Eligibility criteria for Dakshana Scholarship
According to JDST 2022, the following eligibility criteria are followed-
- Students should be studying in class 12th.
- The School of the student must belong to a government or government-aided school.
- The subject of the student should be Science.
- The annual family income of the student should be less than INR 2 Lakh.
- Score Criteria of students in class 10th should be as follows-
- For SC students-Average marks in Science and Math should be greater than 70%.
- For ST students-Average marks in Science and Math should be greater than 60%.
- For GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC students-Average marks in Science and Math should be greater than 85%.
- And students belonging to PD-No cut-off is required.
Dakshana e-Programs of Dakshana Foundation
Dakshana e - Programs are designed to help brilliant and needy students across
the country online. Dakshana e-Programs include video lectures, video
solutions, and regular tests to develop the preparatory skills for JEE and
NEET. E-Programs are available for all students free of cost.
Many programs are designed under Dakshan e-Programs which are Dakshana
e-Aarambh, Dakshana e-Umang, Dakshana e-Dhyey, and Dakshana e-Ummeed.
